Acupuncture

Traditional Acupuncture for good health…naturally.

Traditional Acupuncture is a system of healthcare which is becoming a popular choice as a stand-alone treatment or alongside conventional western (bio)medicine treatment.

It is entirely natural, working with the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

The NHS National Institute of Clinical Excellence has boosted traditional acupunctures profile and popularity with its endorsement of acupuncture treatment for non-specific back pain and as a prophylaxis for migraine and tension headache.

Gurm Bacchus

I undertook my acupuncture training at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, qualifying and starting my acupuncture clinic in Leeds in 2005.

My interest in acupuncture developed from my interest in martial arts as the concept of Qi underpins both disciplines. With acupuncture we look to balance the flow of Qi by stimulating points on meridians whilst martial artists aim to improve and strengthen their Qi through the practice of physical and mental exercises.

In addition to running my acupuncture practice, I worked at Leeds Metropolitan University as Course Leader and Senior Lecturer for the BSc(Hons) Acupuncture course from 2007-2014, where I managed a team of five acupuncturists. I was also involved with teaching on the course and providing clinical supervision to 2nd and 3rd year acupuncture students in the University multi-disciplinary teaching clinic. I have also run specialist subject modules in treating musculoskeletal conditions for final year Osteopathy students, as well as running CPD courses in trigger point acupuncture for physiotherapists.

Patient testimonies:

‘As someone who works as an international presenter I need to ensure that my health is always taken care of in the best manner. A key part of achieving this is to have monthly sessions with Gurm. I highly recommend his acupuncture sessions, he has excellent skills that really make these ‘MOT type visits’ an excellent investment in my own health and wellbeing.’

Mr Nick Kemp – Trainer

‘Having suffered from migraines since I was a teenager (I’m now mid-thirties), I have tried all kinds of different treatments. Acupuncture is a calming experience and has helped reduce the severity of my attacks to a manageable level and I would highly recommend it as a course of treatment.‘

Mrs Susannah P

‘Despite being somewhat sceptical when my complementary therapist recommended acupuncture several years ago, I decided to give it a go. I am pleased to report that Gurm has successfully treated me for a range of conditions, including urticaria, tummy upsets, colds and various menopausal symptoms – acupuncture being especially helpful with the hot flushes. He also treated me for the emotional trauma of first my Mum’s and then my Dad’s deaths. I have recommended Gurm to several of my friends.’
