Paediatrics is the the medical practice concerned with health, development and wellbeing of children and young people. A paediatrician is a doctor with the knowledge and skills to manage a wide range of health and developmental problems and concerns in children and young people.
We offer assessments of child’s development and any concerns in relation to that including delayed or atypical development, behavioural and sleep difficulties.

Dr Joanna Ewa Klejnotowska – Consultant Paediatrician
Dr Klejnotowska is Consultant Paediatrician currently working in Community Paediatric Department in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire seeing children and young people with a wide range of developmental problems and behavioural disorders. She graduated Medical University in Gdansk, Poland in 1993 and has been working in NHS since 2005, and since 2006 as Consultant Paediatrician in Community Child Health.
She is Educational and Clinical Supervisor in Postgraduate Paediatric Training. She was Hull and York Medical School Honorary Tutor since 2011 till June 2018. She has experience in Child Protection and Looked After Children assessments.
Dr Joanna has experience in the multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessment process for Autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. She has been involved in Autism diagnostic process for children from 2 years to 18 years of age. She has been Consultant Representative on East Riding Autism Diagnostic Service for 11 years. She is a certified ADOS2 user including toddler module and ADI-R user.
She has also experience in assessment of developmental delay and is Registered Griffiths III user. She has experience in assessment and management of behavioural disorders like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She is interested in genetic conditions and their impact on child’s development.
Dr Joanna has vast experience in giving medical recommendations as part of Special Educational Needs Assessment and Plan and management of sleep difficulties in children.

Annette Smith – BSc (Hons), MRCSLT, MASLTIP, HCPC Registered.
Annette is a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist. She is passionate about her work and gained over 10 years of experience working for the NHS before leaving to concentrate on her independent work.
She works in a holistic and child centred manner and supports clients and their families across a range of settings including clients’ homes, educational settings and clinic dependent upon need. Annette is familiar with working in association with a range of professionals including: Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Paediatricians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Teachers of the Deaf and teaching staff across early years settings and key stages one to four.
Annette is a member of a multi-agency assessment team who screen and assess children and adolescents for suspected autism spectrum disorder, following which a diagnostic decision is made.
She can offer the following interventions:
- assessment and therapy for speech sound difficulties
- assessment and therapy for language and/or social communication difficulties
- comprehensive reports
- training and supervision

- children with complex needs in mainstream schools
