Having originally trained as a massage therapist Ainsley became aware of and went on to study the ancient tradition of Unani Tibb natural medicine. Ainsley trained for 3.5 years and continues to work closely with Hakim M. Salim Khan – nutritionist, herbalist, iridologist & author – who is the foremost authority on Unani Tibb in the UK and is President of the International Register of Consultant Herbalists (IRCH), the President of the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists International (GNII) and the President of the International Association of Natural Medicine (IANM).
During her studies of Unani Tibb Ainsley became aware of, and wrote her 18.5k word dissertation on, hijama & cupping. Learning the importance of practicing hijama as a tool within the humoral tradition of Unani Tibb, Ainsley believes, enhances the wholistic approach to natural medicine.
Ainsley went on to further study hijama & cupping at the Institute of Clinically Applied Hijama Therapy and graduated the 9 month course with a Distinction.
