Helen Kasher MBACP PGDip Bsc

Hello and welcome to my page.

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

It can be daunting to visit a therapist to talk about yourself and your life. Maybe you want to explore how you feel about a particular experience or a relationship. You may want to change something, or to simply feel better. Therapy offers you a safe and confidential space to talk about how you feel, a space where you will be heard and feel supported. It can also help you to develop a clearer understanding of yourself. This can lead to new ways of relating to and interacting with others and help you to manage difficult periods in your life.

As well as being a counsellor and psychotherapist, I am a registered Speech and Language Therapist. This NHS role, spanning over 30 years, involved supporting individuals and families affected by health and communication difficulties, often as a result of a traumatic and life changing experience. As a Speech and Language Therapist, I am passionate about communication. I understand how vital it is to express what you need and how you feel and how difficult this can sometimes be. Talking things through and finding someone who can truly listen and try and understand how things are for you can be incredibly helpful.

I have supported many clients, whose issues include anxiety and depression, abuse, relationship difficulties, health conditions and bereavement. I have worked extensively with people with communication difficulties, and their families. This includes people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Motor Neurone Disease and Stroke, and also people with cerebral palsy and speech and communication impairments.

I completed a Certificate and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leeds. I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice and undertake continuing professional development and monthly supervision for my practice. Most recent training has been in bereavement, rape and ASIST training (Applied suicide intervention skills training).

I am interested in working with adults. I also have a particular interest in supporting people with communication difficulties and health conditions. I offer short-term and long-term therapy. Our work together will focus on the things that are important to you, and we will go at your pace. We will meet at a time and frequency to suit you. Please do contact me if you want any further information about me or how I work, or if you want to arrange a session to find out if I am the right therapist for you. I appreciate how important it is to find someone you feel comfortable with so that you can make the changes that you want to make.

KAL BADESHA – Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist (MBACP)

Kal is a qualified, skilled and experienced Integrative Counsellor. She provides a service which offers individuals a safe and confidential environment in which to help understand their problems and explore alternative solutions in an atmosphere of warmth, empathy and respect. Kal is a Leeds University Graduate in Integrative Counselling and also a member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

“Kal was able to provide an excellent level of treatment to combat some underlying issues in my life that have affected me for a number of years. She gave me the confidence and tools to be able to deal with these myself and to realise that I can do this! She encouraged me to stop the treatment early once she felt I was at a level where I could return to a ‘normal’ life but ensured me that the support would always be there. I would highly recommend the treatment received.”          MS

“Kal has helped me more than I could ever imagine with my self-confidence, she has really taught me to love myself and not to worry. There was a stage where I wouldn’t go out or socialise because I was too anxious but since seeing Kal and exploring events from the past I have now been able to put steps in place to start enjoying my life again.”          CG

“I was referred by my company as I had been struggling with anxiety, IBS and depression. At this time, I took time off sick, and received help from a psychiatrist and therapist. I did see great improvements, but when I returned back to work I started to regress back to my previous conditions.

I started my sessions with Kal. All I can say is thank goodness I did! After my first session I rang my mum and told her how fantastic I thought Kal was, and that I knew she would change my life for the better.

Kal really understood the cause of my problems straight away and focused on how I could overcome these. She gave me practical ‘homework’ which really helped me.

She gave me my first ‘lightbulb’ moment and I have found the information and advice she gave me amazingly useful whenever ‘doubts’ creep back in.

I can’t believe after only 4 sessions I am like a different person. I am now looking forward to things. I am having fun. I’m going out. My children are so much happier. I too have more confidence and the realisation that I can do what I want to do.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Kal. What an amazing person as well as counsellor. I cannot thank you enough for giving me my life back.”          LS, Leeds

I am a Relate trained, and qualified, Couples Counsellor with over 20 years experience and also a qualified Systemic Family Therapist. I studied in the UK and the USA and I work in an integrative way, meaning that I call on a wide variety of theories, models and techniques, to ensure that each client gets a tailor-made approach best suited to their needs, their personal style and their goals.

In therapy you set your own agenda and work at your own pace with the benefit of the guidance, help and support of the therapist. Relational work can be done by an individual, as a couple or undertaken as a family group.

  • Individual Counselling
  • Couple Counselling
  • Family Therapy
  • Counselling for Children and Young People
  • Personal Development
  • Supervision

I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their Code of Ethics.

Good relationships are the foundation on which we build our mental and emotional wellbeing and when they become problematical it can cause us intense stress and unhappiness. These difficulties can have their roots in our past, in the way we related to our family of origin or we may be struggling to remain attached to others because of external stresses in the present. If we wish to strengthen our relationships, understand why they persistently fail, or prepare ourselves for a new, more positive, way of being with others then counselling can help us to become more insightful about our needs and desires and explore all the elements that influence our interactions with others.

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?”
Mary Manin Morrissey

Tracy Sapier

Accredited with BACP, BSC, DIP, DIP, RBACP

Diploma in Supervision

Being a fully qualified Person Centred Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and psychotherapy(BACP) for over 15years I have extensive experience within this field. After observing the benefits people receive from counselling I find this job rewarding and enriching.

Following setting up a service for Touchestone Support Centre, I worked with them for five years helping people from ethnic minorities, suffering from various mental health problems.

In addition I spent two years working for GP practice s giving me a wide range of clients including victims of abuse, depression, solution focus (CBT) and marital problems (including couple work), enabling me to apply my skills to almost all areas.

Furthermore I spent over two years working within a Primary School for ThePlace2Bewhich involves a managerial post along with group and individual counselling for both adults and children.

Since leaving Theplace2Be I have now gained my Diploma working with Children and Adolescents.

I also work for several charities dealing with bereavement, domestic violence, children’s work , CBT and also cancer related issues.

I am also a qualified supervisor and do Supervision for both students and qualified counsellors.

Having trained as a Person Centred Counsellor I use a variety of approaches within therapy: Psychodynamic and Psyco-synthesis.

  • Psycodynamic- brings the unconscious mental process such as fears and anxiety to the conscious awareness playing a key role in enabling the person to live a fulfilling life.
  • Psyo-synthesis- explores issues that directly prevent people from leading their life as they would wish.

The application of these methods means I not only work alongside my clients at their own pace , but I incorporate theories and techniques such as Aromatherapy and Guided visualisations , which help clients along their road to a new beginning. In addition I have found the use of Play therapy beneficial for all ages which can facilitate clients to express themselves through the use of a choice of creative materials.

I ensure I have a safe and confidential environment to work in where the client feels comfortable and secure. The therapeutic space is somewhere where the individual can escape to a compassionate and friendly atmosphere to discover and overcome any issues causing them emotional difficulties.

Having completed my Diploma in Supervision I am also able to offer this to qualified counsellors and also to counsellors working towards their diploma in counselling, student counsellors are also able to get a discounted rate until they qualify.

I have also completed a CBT workshop specifically in Anxiety in London. Clients often feel trapped in anxiety and use common coping strategies such as avoidance and other safety behaviours. These behaviours only maintain the anxiety disorder . CBT aids clients to identify and target central beliefs and behaviours that maintain anxiety and teaches interventions to manage the anxiety.

Christina Dawson – Counselling for couples and individuals

BA (HONS), MA (Psychological Therapies (including Post Grad Cert Working with Diversity), Relate Trained & Qualified (Relate CC) BACP (Accredited and Registered)

I have 24 years counselling experience in a variety of settings which has included counselling at Relate, in GP surgeries and for EAPs (Employee Assistance Programmes).

I believe that counselling offers you the opportunity to explore and understand the source of your difficulties at your own pace, with time to think and reflect and then to decide what, if anything, to do about a particular issue. Counselling helps you to look at aspects of your life, relationships and yourself which you may not have been aware of, or been able to face before.

Sometimes hearing yourself telling your story to an attentive listener, who asks questions to gain a deeper understanding, can be very helpful. People describe a sense of relief and of feeling a ‘weight has been lifted’ when they can speak of matters they may have been keeping to themselves for a long time.

My Approach

I work Integratively using the Relational Model which means that sometimes a session might span your past, present and future. I help you to make links between events and experiences in your past and your present behaviour/issues. This linking and in-depth understanding then empowers you to consider ways in which you might want to change. You can evaluate your options and choices and decide which are best for your future well being. Coping strategies you might have developed as a child might not be serving you well as an adult.

At other times a session might focus on a ‘here and now’ problem, such as learning how to relax, strategies to cope with panic attacks or negative thinking. The counselling will be ‘tailored’ according to the issues you bring and what you need at any one session.

In couples therapy I act as a bridge to help each partner connect to the other’s world. Helping couples communicate with more emotional honesty and find ways of talking about the ‘difficult stuff’ safely is an important element of couples therapy.

I believe that the key to successful therapy is that client and counsellor are able to connect with each other. Counselling is about relationships: your relationships with family, friends and colleagues and yourself, and your therapeutic relationship with your counsellor. I work in partnership alongside my clients, exploring their difficulties and helping them achieve the outcomes from counselling that we have mutually agreed would be beneficial.

Client Reviews

“I saw Vicki just over a month ago to help me stop smoking. After years of smoking and finding excuses to justify the habit, I finally decided to bite the bullet! The session itself was pretty straight forward and I was also given an MP3 to listen to after my session, which I listened to most days for a couple of weeks. I threw my last packet of cigs in the bin during my session and haven’t even thought about it since. Best thing I’ve done in a long time.”

NA, Leeds

“I used to be terrified of flying and couldn’t stand the thought of getting on a plane. But after booking a holiday, I knew I had to somehow get over it. I had 5 sessions with Vicki and the week after my last session, I went on holiday. Both flights there and back went really well with no stress at all. I thought I might be anxious getting on the plane, but it didn’t happen! I also listened to the hypnosis recording I was given during my sessions and that helped me to relax during the flights as well. Hypnotherapy has been the best thing I’ve done in ages and I can’t recommend it enough.”

CB, Harrogate

“I had been having problems with anxiety for some time and it was affecting my work as well as going out with friends and family. After a few therapy sessions with Vicki, I feel a lot better and can now start looking forward to things again.”

DB, Leeds

“Vicki helped me to recover from a very difficult time in my life – I didn’t think I would ever feel OK again, but during the course of my sessions she helped me to feel better about myself and to understand that I do have a choice. I couldn’t imagine what the future might hold for me or what it might be like, but now I can and it looked a lot brighter now. Thank you so much.”

Emotional distress can be crippling at times… creeping into all areas of our lives. It can hinder our work, relationships, decision making… It is hard when we don’t understand why our emotions are having a certain effect on us, or making us behave in ways we don’t like. Whilst our loved ones can be a great support in these times sometimes they are too close to the situation, leaving us feeling confused unable to hear our own voice.

How can counselling help?

Seeing a counsellor can provide a safe and comfortable space for us to explore these thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It also allows time and space to talk through past traumatic or shameful events that hinder our current circumstances. Talking to a person who is outside of normal life but that won’t judge and can be trusted can be a freeing experience. Through talking to a counsellor you will hopefully start to hear your own voice, and make sense of what is troubling you. Through growing in awareness of your self and your difficulties you can hope to experience more choice and acceptance, leading to a more hope filled life.

I am passionate about seeing people move out of a place of isolation, darkness and being overwhelmed, to experience transformation, healing, renewal and more freedom in life.

About my approach to counselling

I am a qualified integrative counsellor with experience of working within trauma and talking therapy services with adults. My approach is relational, which allows me to use a variety of different theoretical models and approaches, depending on your needs and personality. Theoretical models I am influenced by include: humanistic, existential, behavioural, psychodynamic, transactional analysis and creative therapies.

I have experience of working in a number of different third sector organisations as a counsellor as well as through private practice. Prior to being a counsellor I worked in refugee and asylum seeker support services. As a practising Christian I am aware of the impact faith and spirituality can have on individuals and am able to incorporate this into my counselling, only if it is appropriate or relevant to you.

I am able to offer short-term or open-ended therapy, depending on your needs, and regular reviews will be incorporated.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy working towards accreditation (Registration number:757179). I am committed to the ‘Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions’ which governs safe and professional practice. To view my profile on the Counselling Directory click here:

About me and my therapy practice

Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I will provide an environment where you can explore anything you want to in the knowledge that you can feel totally safe, regardless of what you may wish to discuss. It should be an empowering process for you, where you learn more about yourself,
about how you relate to others and about the person you would like to become.

My Approach to Counselling

I believe we all have the innate resources to fulfil our potential and live satisfying lives. Yet, there are times when we may be unable to see ways through our difficulties.

You can expect me to listen, put you first, to be understanding, respectful and non-judgemental as we talk about the challenges you may be facing. Together we can learn new perspectives and strategies enabling you to cope, or to make changes in your life, if that is what you want to do. Although primarily person centred, I consider and integrate other theories to compliment my practice such as Emotion Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I am able to offer short-term, time limited or open-ended therapy, depending upon your needs.

Counselling Experience

Over several years, I have worked with many people who have experienced a broad range of complex issues, which they often perceived as insurmountable. However, working with them in a collaborative and supportive way has enabled them to adapt, make their own way, cope and thrive.
I have for many years worked in public sector support services on the front line and at management levels. Currently I continue to work for a national mental health charity where I have been for several years. I have also worked for a national bereavement service for a number of years where I still fulfil a training role.

Post Graduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP Accredited).
Institute of Management Diploma
BA (Hons) 2:1 Organisation Studies

Is this for me?
Because finding the right counsellor is important, I offer an optional short initial telephone consultation free of charge, prior to commencement, to discuss whether counselling with me will meet your needs.

It will give us the chance to get to know each other a little and discuss what it is that is bringing you to counselling. Afterwards you are under no obligation to continue with me, as it is just to see if we feel we can work together. How long we might work together will depend on your needs, wishes and the issues you bring. I will always try to work in ways and at your pace so that it is right for you.

I work within the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for good practice. I maintain my professional competence through continuous personal development; always work ethically within my practice and always with your best interests in mind.

Rachel Northen – Psychosexual Therapist

Why choose Psychosexual Therapy?

Sexual issues can be very distressing and may lead to tensions and issues within the couple relationship. In some cases couples may feel that they are not only less sexual with each other, but also less close and intimate in general. Resentments can arise which may lead to arguments and feelings of low mood and anxiety. For single people, sexual difficulties may lead to a lack of confidence in starting new relationships. Many people find it uncomfortable and embarrassing to talk about their concerns and may feel very isolated and stuck.

There are many reasons why couples and individuals may experience sexual difficulties. These include: physical issues, such as illness, effects of medications and ageing; psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and past sexual trauma; and, social, religious and cultural influences.

Psychosexual therapy can help you to understand more about your sexual difficulty and explore ways of both achieving a fulfilling and enjoyable sex life and enhancing your relationship.

How I work

I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to discuss your concerns and work towards a solution. Your first appointment will be an assessment to find out more about your issue and to discuss your goals for therapy. If you decide that this therapy is right for you, I will then develop a treatment plan which will usually include homework activities, e.g. communication and intimacy exercises. (Please note that no physical examination will be given and you will never be asked to undertake intimate exercises during sessions).

I work integratively, combining different therapeutic tools and approaches, such as cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic and systemic, depending on the needs of each client.

I am experienced in working with individuals and couples from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations and ages.

I work with a variety of sexual issues, including:

  • Loss of sexual desire/mismatched libidos
  • Difficulties in arousal and orgasm
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Premature and delayed ejaculation
  • Penetration disorders (e.g. vaginismus)
  • Sexual pain (dyspareunia)
  • Sexual phobia and anxiety
  • Communication difficulties

Clients are weekly or fortnightly. The number of sessions required varies for each individual/couple but most attend between 4 and 12 sessions.

Appointments are 50 minutes in length and the following fees apply per session:

Individuals – £50
Couples – £60

I’m Nicki Eyre and I’m delighted to be taking you on your transformational coaching journey at The Tower Clinic.

Coaching comes in many forms, and it’s important that you find a coach that you connect with, both as an individual and in the approach used. I believe in the power of transforming relationships, both at work and throughout your life, through the discovery of your authentic self. Everyone deserves to have their unique individuality recognised and respected. Together, we’ll find the route that allows you to shine in every aspect of your life and work.

Transformational, or developmental coaching is at the heart of everything that I deliver. This approach explores current and past influences from both personal and professional lives that shape behaviour. Transformational coaching encourages you to identify and challenge limiting thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that are preventing you from achieving your goals and aspirations. Through a greater self awareness of your emotions and reactions, you’ll gain the confidence to respond differently and open up new possibilities.

I have a real passion for working with individuals and businesses to tackle workplace bullying as part of an overall approach to improving workplace wellbeing. Employees are supported to increase their own personal and emotional resilience, raising self awareness of their own behaviours and impact on relationships, enabling them to be able to cope effectively with more complex situations.

Claire Buck

Claire is a qualified coach and mentor who has over 30 years’ experience in business. 20 years ago I was living in London and running my own successful retail and distribution company; Stephen was based in Leeds and owned a prosperous shoe business. We had an instant connection and despite the distance we knew we had something special. After two years of commuting between cities, I sold my business and moved to Leeds.

With four children between us we had to settle into our new married life pretty fast and it wasn’t long before we expanded our family. Ellie was the result of IVF and an absolute dream come true. Just two years later our natural miracle, Jack, appeared and took our family to eight.

Managing a large family and our own business was a huge challenge but we make a great team. What soon became apparent to me was that the tools I needed to be successful in both life and business were one and the same.
Qualities such as honesty, truth, integrity and compassion are ingrained into everything I do but being a great listener is probably my biggest secret to success.

Over the years I’ve put my heart and soul into making sure our children have a happy, stable life as well as being an integral part of driving our business forward. We successfully grew a chain of over 60 retail outlets with a strong e-commerce and wholesale operation, employing over 500 people at peak.

In 2014 we sold some shares and I took a step back from the business. For the first few months I enjoyed
my “freedom” but I’m used to being constantly challenged and my brain wasn’t ready to switch off. That’s when I made the decision that I wanted to really help Business Owners & Professionals solve problems in both their Business and their Life.

I decided that I had something to offer that could add real value to the lives and businesses of others. I retrained. I learnt everything I could about coaching and mentoring and thought hard about the kind of people I could help. My training and personal development, combined with my vast experience, has enabled me to put together a coaching model that truly empowers people, solving real problems for Business Owners and Professionals

What is sophrology?

Sophrology is a method based on gentle body movements, breathing exercises, concentration and visualisation techniques.

It was developed by the neuro-psychiatrist Professor Alfonso Caycedo in the 1960s and is inspired by several Western and Eastern techniques such as Jacobson progressive relaxation, hypnotherapy, yoga and buddhist meditation. The way Professor Caycedo structured his method is what makes sophrology an original and unique complementary therapy.

Sophrology is about increasing body awareness, removing self-judgment and taking positive action to live life at its fullest and in harmony between body and mind.

Sophrology suits everyone, regardless of health condition, physical or emotional state. It is a simple yet effective method which is also flexible and adaptable.

What can sophrology help with?

  • stress and anxiety
  • confidence and self-esteem
  • sleeping problems
  • event preparation: interview, examination, audition, competition
  • long-term conditions and illnesses
  • personal development

Audrey Zannese

My mission is to help you regain balance, calmness and confidence in your life.

I specialise in stress and anxiety management, sleeping disorders and event preparation. I also use sophrology to help people affected by long-term conditions and illnesses.

My work is always aimed at the client’s best interest. I offer a free phone or Skype consultation where you can ask any questions you have and decide whether sophrology is right for you.

If you decide to work with me, the first session will include a questionnaire to identify your priorities and I will tailor the exercises of the session to your specific needs.

Sophrology can help you to:

  • feel calmer under pressure and release tensions
  • increase your focus, concentration and performance
  • increase your resilience and confidence
  • refill your energy levels during the day
  • fall asleep more easily and naturally and protect your sleep.
  • feel positive and strong in face of challenges
  • increase your general wellbeing
  • unlock your true potential and live your life at its fullest.

What do clients say?
“After a few sophrology sessions I was able to become more mindful and able to relax at times when I was very stressed. I also managed to calm down my symptoms of IBD which were normally made worse with stress. The calming techniques worked really well and I became more conscious of what my body was telling me. Now I use some exercises on a daily basis.” S. Tariq

“I suffered from anxiety, depression and insomnia. Practicing sophrology enhanced my ability to relax. I had a better perspective on my problems and thoughts. I was able to reconnect with my body and be more present instead of feeling stressed about the future.” J. Armitage

“I felt more energetic, less tired, less overwhelmed, more able to focus and to balance my work and non-work activities. I was able to sleep better at night and I was generally happier.” A. Hornsey
