Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a procedure which involves taking a blood sample, concentrating the platelets from that sample, and reinjecting those concentrated platelets back into the body to assist healing and regenerate tissue.
These benefits occur because the platelets secrete a concentrated mix of growth factors. These growth factors stimulate repair cells. It is the same mechanism that heals a paper cut but magnified.
It can treat:
- Jaw Line and lower face
- Acne scarring
- Neck crinkling
- Cheeks and Mid Face volume loss
- Regrowth of areas of hair loss
- Chest and Decolletage
- Back of hands and arms
- Crinkling skin around the eyes
PRP is also used in facial surgery and to repair muscle injuries. In fact PRP is banned in drug tested sport as a performance enhancing drug.
PRP is not for everyone. It cannot be used by smokers, those with platelet abnormalities, or anyone on aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication such as Nurofen or Voltaren.
