Dr Leigh Jones joins the Tower Clinic

Are you’re looking to tackle one or two problems that are standing in the way of a more fulfilling life? Or would you like to address more deep-seated and widespread difficulties and develop a whole new approach to life? I’m here to support you.

I’ve worked in various roles in health and social care settings since 1995, thus gaining experience of working with adults with a wide range of psychological and emotional problems. As a clinical psychologist, I specialise in working with people who have experienced traumatic events from childhood onwards. Typically, this involves working with people who struggle to manage powerful emotions, develop healthy relationships or maintain a sense of themselves as good and worthwhile individuals.

I place a strong emphasis on the importance of building safe and trusting therapeutic relationships with the people I work with and am experienced at developing relationships with those who struggle to trust others. Within therapy with me, people are likely to experience a genuine sense of being cared for and ‘held’, along with gentle encouragement to recognise unhelpful patterns and work to change them.

My primary approach is Schema Therapy. I’m also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (E.M.D.R) and draw on ideas and techniques from modalities such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (D.B.T.) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (C.F.T.) according to the needs of the person.

Earlier in my career, I spent ten years working as a mental health occupational therapist which provided me with a special insight into the relationship between mental health and day-to-day functioning; I continue to draw on this to enable people to improve their quality of life.

‘The sessions with Leigh have changed my life, after years of failed therapy I believed I was destined to continue in the cycle of the mental health issues I had suffered all my life but because of Leigh’s patience, understanding, lack of judgment and superb clinical skills I have broken that cycle.

I would recommend Leigh’s therapy sessions to anyone regardless of how hopeless they feel or how many other therapists or therapies they have tried before.’ ‘Faye’, 38
