She has a gentle manner & patient centred, empathic approach. As she is a strong advocate of lifestyle based interventions, she endeavours to incorporate complimentary modalities based on Lifestyle Medicine, Stress management, Neuroplasticity, Mindfulness & Breath work to address patient’s mental health difficulties including stress, anxiety, mood disorder, & ADHD along with sleep deprivation, brain fog, health related worries, chronic pain, menopausal wellbeing, poor attention & low self-esteem. These evidence based complimentary approaches are proven to rewire the brain & reset the nervous system.
Health is not only about fixing the illness but also looking at ways of optimising it by using lifestyle modifications, nutrition & preventative measures. The British Psychological Society approved Mindfulness teacher training course has equipped her with the knowledge and skills to deliver mindfulness and its techniques to a high standard combining elements of mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT). She has also completed two cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) courses. MBCT draws on several CBT techniques, in the form of talking therapy. She maintains good practice through CPD portfolio & attending various courses. Prior to changing speciality to Psychiatry, Dr Suchita Karthik has worked as a NHS Consultant in a diagnostic specialty for several years.
Preventative approach to health is underutilised even though many of the chronic conditions are lifestyle driven. Her passion for health and wellbeing has led her to develop an integrative approach to improve outcomes in mental health without relying on psychotropic medications alone. She strives to empower individuals to take control over their life & provide techniques to cope better in order to lead a healthy, more fulfilling life.
