Dawn Middleton joins the Tower Clinic!

Person- Centred Counselling, Psychotherapy and Clinical Supervision

I offer counselling and psychotherapy to people of all ages and from all backgrounds who are experiencing a diverse range of difficulties. I offer both long-term and short- term support.

I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor in 2005, and since then have undertaken additional brief training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Brief Solution- Focussed Therapy and Trauma -focussed Therapy. My aim as a counsellor is not to give advice, but to offer a supportive and non-judgmental space in which a person may feel safe enough to explore difficult feelings and life circumstances, enabling them to find clarity for themselves about their feelings and life experiences, becoming more able to make decisions about any changes they may wish to make in their lives.

I have several years’ experience of working within a Crisis Service, supporting people who were experiencing emotional or mental health crisis and life crisis. Following this I spent some time working as a Counsellor with parents and partners of people who had alcohol or substance addictions. I have also worked with Victim Support, offering practical and emotional support to victims of crime. As well as working in private practice, I am currently employed by the Market Place Project for young People aged 11 – 25 years, offering counselling around a range of problems. I also work one day per week for an organisational branch of Rape Crisis England and Wales, offering trauma focussed therapy to women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or sexual violence or rape as an adult.

In addition to training and experience of working within the fields of crisis, trauma and sexual violence, I have an interest in, and experience of working with the following issues:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Bereavement
  • Self-harm
  • Suicidal feelings
